plico.studio is a residential design studio rooted in Northwest Arkansas.
Every project starts with paying attention. How light comes into a room. How a house sits on the ground. How people move through it. What a material feels like, and what the site already has going for it. We don’t start with a style. We start with what’s actually there, and the design grows from that.
The Ozarks shape how we think. Forests, hills, creeks, and fields sit right up against growing towns, and a house here becomes part of that landscape whether it means to or not. So we pay close attention to how a home faces the sun, how it’s proportioned, what it’s made of, and how it opens to the outdoors.
We like simple architecture with a reason behind it. A wall that shifts to catch a view. A roof that follows the slope of the land. An opening that pulls daylight deep into a room. A material that gets better with age. None of these is a big move on its own, but together they give a house its character.
Most of our work is residential, and we work closely with clients and builders from the first sketch through construction. Good design has to hold up in the real world, and ideas get stronger when they’re tested against how things are actually built.
We’re curious, collaborative, and practical. We listen, draw, test and revise. We’d rather be clear than complicated, and we’d rather have character than novelty.
A good house doesn’t have to be loud. It can be quiet, useful, and built to last, and it can feel like it belongs to the people inside and the land underneath. That’s the balance plico is after: simplicity with character, shelter that respects the landscape, an idea that actually gets built.
